Which Bluetooth works with LEGO MINDSTORMS? PDF Print E-mail

Hi, Jamie,

Thank you so much for your quick response and info.
I will take a look at those soon. In the mean time, I have a Mac BookPro with VMware Fusion running a Windows Virtual machine, and when I loaded the software in the virtual machine, the Bluetooth worked ok. So, I am ok in the short time!
I tried with Mac first, and bluetooth was too slow to be operable, and I found many people were facing a simular situation. I may still have to find a dongle for another Windows PC, though.

For the humanoid robots at Toyota, I was mainly responsible for its wired/wireless network as well as its OS development. It was fun, but I have moved on since then. :)

Thanks again for the info!

Hello Masaru,

Here are 2 resources for Bluetooth.

I have also successfully used the Bluetooth  on:
  • my Lenovo T400 laptop running Windows XP
  • the team's HP Compaq 8510p running Windows XP
  • Our older Gateway desktop running Windows XP using a Logitech MX900 Bluetooth Mouse with Bluetooth Cradle (which acts as a Bluetooth hub.
I hope that helps a little.

Very nice video of the humanoid robotics.  Which parts/functions were your bailiwick?

Hi, Jamie,

I attended your Lego Programming workshop yesterday, and I talked with you at lunch time.
I am the one who used to work for Toyota doing Humanoid robotics development. My group was responsible for these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2twAnS9TEOA

Anyhow, I liked your bluetooth lecture, and my PC doesn't appear to work well with bluetooth.
One of your other coaches yesterday mentioned bluetooth dongles can be tricky to set up and some may not work.

Do you happen to have a list of well tested bluetooth dongles that you have used that work with NXT??

I would appreciate any info on this.

Thank you again for the informative workshop, and I hope to see you again some time in the future!!

Masaru
